Classes run from 9.30 - 4.30 at Cedar farm with tea, coffee and cakes provided. You are welcome to bring a packed lunch or we can have a table reserved in the Cedar Farm Cafe.

The other fantastic venue is the workshop attached to
The Sue Ryder Charity Furniture Barn, Cuerden Hall, Bamber Bridge, Preston. PR5 6AZ
The furniture barn has a wide range of amazing items that can be purchased very cheeply. I have found many wonderful pieces of furniture in need of transformation in this barn.

Classes at Sue Ryder run from 9am - 3.30pm and are situated inside the courtyard and in the workshop on the right hand side (corner of the courtyard).
Tea, coffee and cakes are provided.
The Sue Ryder charity cafe provide a small range of hot sandwiches and soups or feel free to bring a packed lunch. These classes also run on the same day as The Cuerden Valley Park Farmers Market.

These fun and informative 1 day classes will provide you with all the knowledge and skills required to go on and continue to produce your own Shabby Chic transformations at home.
You will also return home with one or two completed pieces of bespoke Shabby Chic hand painted furniture.
All materials will be provided, all you need to bring are one or two pieces of small / medium sized furniture from home. Some examples of what can be painted during the class are a dining chair, coffee table, console table, plant stand, candlesticks, picture frame, planter, tray. It is probably a bit too ambitious to get anything with more than one or two drawers finished in a day.

You may have something in mind at home that you have been saving for a 'Shabby Chic transformation', but if not don't worry as I can give you some direction as to where you can pick up suitable bargains for less than £10.
I also have several blank pieces that would be suitable for a Shabby Chic makeover and can be purchased from as little as £5 if you would like to see photos to reserve one just drop me an email silvermousey@yahoo.com

When choosing your items to be painted there are a few things to consider.
Chose something with a shape you like, pay no attention to the finish of the furniture. Even the most glossy surface, varnish, veneer, melamine, metal, wax can be easily transformed with these specialist paints, WITHOUT messy and time consuming sanding and stripping.
These paints can go straight over ANYTHING.
Something with more than one drawer may be too time consuming for the class.
Your items must fit in your car to be removed at the end of the day.
If you are planning on doing a chair, look at the seat and think about where you will be applying the paint. The simplest are the pop-out seat pad variety. If you have a fabric in mind, bring this along as there may be time to recover your seatpad at the end.

I will have a limited colour palate of paints with me, but if you have a specific colour palate in mind please let me know and I will endeavour to make sure we have the paints required to mix your shade.

Don't worry too much about how you would like your finished item to look beforehand as I will bring lots of books and examples for inspiration. Feel free to bring along any photos from magazines of furniture you like the look of.
Please don't wear your best clothes, a pinny is probably a good idea.

All the paints we will be using are manufactured specifically for furniture painting and are extremely environmentally friendly, they will allow us to work quickly and we will also be using waxes.

If you have any questions about the classes please do get intouch either by email silvermousey@yahoo.com or the contact page.

First and foremost the classes are a fun and informative day where you can learn the techniques and take away one or two complete pieces of up-cycled furniture.
Here are a selection of photographs from the classes and finished work by students.
